This creek has been on my "To Do" list for a very long time. The chart showed a sandbar at the mouth of the creek so I always avoided it. But, I finally decided I needed to do this creek. So I loosened the daggerboard hold downs and creeped in. It wasn't bad at all. This creek is beautiful and is a very nice stopping point if you are going up the James. Enjoyed this creek very much. |
I caught about six crabs and it was just relaxing doing that. They were tasty too!
The first two pictures are from a quick day sail I took earlier. I thought bird looked pretty cool.
This think came up on us very fast. Didn't know what it was. Looked more like a bus than a pontoon boat. Guess this is a true on the water camper.
You can see the two foot water at the entrance to the creek. But, I didn't have any problems getting in or out.
In the creek. You can see that it is beautiful.
Heading out on the back side of the "Ghost Fleet". It is definitely smaller but there are still quite a few ships left.
We toured the shore line of Burrels Bay. The cruising guide says this is a good anchorage. Not for me. Too unprotected and too many power boats.
There were some interesting clouds. I thought this looked like a turtle.
This one reminded me of underdog.
This one looked like Dumbo.
Green was the route in. Red the way home.
The complex to the north west of the creek, just south of Hog Island is the Surry Nuclear power plant.
